Types of natural stone and their use

Each stone is a unique piece of nature’s own handiwork, which needs to be respected when choosing the right stone for our project. Before you start, learn about the advantages, use and characteristics of each particular rock.

We believe this list will help you choose the best product for your kitchen, living room or bathroom.

Slate

The slate is a fine-grained, foliated, metamorphic rock typically produced in light or dark grey colour with black, purple or red mottling.

Water and heat resistance make slate a perfect choice if you are looking for stone veneers suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and other harsh environments.

Owing to their high resistance to dirt or abrasion, easy maintenance and, on top of that, a wide range of colours, slate veneers are our top products that you don’t want to miss when choosing!

Quartzite

Our quartzite veneers are available in many textures, veins and colour variations. The stone is highly resistant to chemicals and environmental conditions (humidity).

Quartzite is a metamorphic, extra hard and strong rock with typically white colour.

Marble

Marble is considered to be the most beautiful and elegant type of stone ever! Michelangelo Buonarroti chose this rock for his masterpiece David and marble has served as a material to many other ancient and modern sculptors.

Marble is a metamorphic rock characterised by compact, crystalline texture and veins, usually in a light colour. The result is a unique, elegant look that stands out especially in interiors – living room, corridor, kitchen, windowsill etc.

Due to marble’s proneness to staining and abrasions, we highly recommend a penetrating sealant. Despite the more challenging installation and maintenance, your investment in marble is always worthwhile!

Sandstone

Sandstone is a specific type of stone, formed by small fragments of quartzite and other rocks.

Owing to the unique structure, sandstone features unmistakable grainy texture, yellowish colour and excellent options for cutting and carving.

Depending on the origin and minerals, sandstone may have colour variations – brown, red, pink or red. Sandstone veneers are a great choice for interior projects.
